The who, why and what of this site .....
Whether this is your first visit to the site, or not, we hope you will find something of interest or use here and although we are not, nor pretend to be, professional experts in digital photography and image manipulation we are enthusiasts, having been involved in this area of photography for almost 10 years; from the days when 35mm slides and negatives were scanned into the computer; from the days when it was almost necessary to raise a mortgage to buy a digital camera; from the days before the fanfare of the first 1 megapixel camera; and from the days when, to be a digital enthusiast in amateur photographic circles meant that you were viewed with suspicion and alarm. Happy Days! However, to return to the present!
Tutorials on the site are intended to be in simple terms and based, where appropriate, on the photo-manipulation software, Adobe Photoshop Elements and a Windows 2000 or XP platform. You will find that the tutorials can be followed in the different versions of Elements and, with minor differences, in the full version of Photoshop itself. Elements contains lots of things that are found in Photoshop but they are offered in a less complicated manner and are much easier to find and navigate than those in Photoshop itself. It's often the case that newcomers will familiarise themselves with Elements and then find themselves advancing to the full version of Photoshop with relative ease.
